Distinguished Military and Legal Career

Grace M. Uzomba served over 20 years in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps as a medical logistics officer, working to improve medical equipment maintenance and supply delivery for service members worldwide. After retiring, she attended St. Mary’s University School of Law, co-founding the Center for Terrorism Law to safeguard civil liberties while addressing security needs. Motivated by a commitment to fair justice, she ran for and became the first woman and first African American Judge of County Court at Law No. 2 in Bexar County, which handled both civil and criminal cases. During her tenure, she launched programs to help probationers and pre-trial defendants succeed and was the first to hire a voice recording court reporter in Bexar County.
